# Shopping metrics

> How Echod measures product visibility, win rate and position in AI shopping results.

Shopping metrics are calculated from **shopping chats**: answers that included product cards. Answers without product cards are not part of these numbers, except in **Chats with products**.

## Chats with products

The share of all answers that included product cards.

```text theme={null}
Chats with products = answers with product cards / all answers x 100
```

This tells you how much of your prompt set triggers shopping results at all. A low number usually means your prompts are mostly informational.

## Visibility

The share of shopping chats that showed the product (or, for a brand, at least one of its products).

```text theme={null}
Visibility = shopping chats showing the product / all shopping chats x 100
```

**Example:** 80 answers in the period showed product cards. Your trail shoe appeared in 20 of them, so its visibility is 25%.

## Win rate

How often the product was the first card in the carousel, out of the times it was shown with a position.

```text theme={null}
Win rate = appearances in first position / appearances with a position x 100
```

**Example:** your trail shoe appeared 20 times and was the first card 5 times, a 25% win rate.

The first card gets the most attention, so win rate is the closest shopping equivalent of being recommended first.

## Position

The product's average place in the carousel across its appearances. **#1 is best**; lower is better.

```text theme={null}
Position = sum of carousel positions / number of positioned appearances
```

## Reading them together

| Pattern | What it suggests |
| - | - |
| High visibility, low win rate | The product is considered but rarely chosen first. Compare price, rating and the details shown on the competing products. |
| Low visibility, high win rate | When it shows up it leads, but it rarely shows up. Look at which prompts and merchants it appears with, and widen its availability. |
| Good position, falling visibility | Competitors are taking carousel slots. Check **Competing products** on the product page. |
